Spring continues...

A few pretty days and I'm all about changing the tablescapes in my home, wreaths on the doors, the mantel in the great room etc. Yesterday we changed out the front door decoration, today it's the dining room buffet...spring and gardening just go together, don't ya think? Have you begun spring decorating at your house?

Just a little bit of spring...

I've had this iron cone piece for awhile just trying to decide how to put it to good use. Yesterday it was 60 degrees and sunny, a great spring day in GA. Soooooo... I made a new arrangement for my front door for spring. I stuffed it with stryofoam, then loaded it with spanish moss so you can't see my underworks and then added silk jonquils from "wally world". I like the way it turned out. Each fall since we built our home we've planted 100 jonquil bulbs in the front yard, so now we have 300 , they are just beginning to bloom and look very much like these in the arrangement. Have a happy spring day!

Love letters!

Now I've said it aloud...I love letters! I think I'm obsessed! lol I have always loved letters, especially monograms. Oh my, I would monogram everything if I could! But my latest project is developing into a wall of letters...old B's, new B's, pictures of B's. I'm on the hunt! This is an area by the back door where normally I kept a small seasonal wreath, just a tiny "welcome to our home" kind of spot. I had one B ( first letter of our last name) there for awhile, then ran across another and another, well you get the picture! How fun to start a new collection. Have you started a new one lately?Something fun ,maybe? Please share it with me!

Hankies Galore!

Do you remember someone in your lifetime using a cotton hankie? My DH says his grandmother always had one with her as well as having her gloves and hat! I won these recently in a "box lot" on Ebay.I thought they would fit perfectly in my booth space where "All Things Tea" is sold. What do you think? Aren't they pretty? Probably from the 1950's, there are several that look that era, one is pink and black with poodles! Gota love the 50's!

Trash to Treasure

I love the way these "trash to treasure" pieces turned out. The chair was shiny gold with a gold and green floral print fabric seat. Just lovely! The old outdoor plant stand, it was shiny "brass" also. The two pieces together cost me $11! I love the way they turned out and really help out in the dressing area of the guest bath. They give our guests a place to sit and put their shoes on and extra storage for towels!

Spring is just around the corner!

Doesn't this decorated frame just scream "spring"? I love it! For those of you that know me, you'll be shocked to find out this is NOT my creation. I bought this from a friend who has a booth space across from me at the shoppe. Like myself, she also deals in "trash to treasure" items. I love what she's done with this old green frame and I think it looks good in our guest bath. The walls in that bath are yellow and the green frame looks great in there with all the blue and green in that bathroom. Are you getting the "itch" for spring as I am?

Breakfast in bed?

I love to transform things. This is a shot from one of my booths, isn't this bed tray just darling in glossy black? Can't you imagine having some tea on it? It was a dull scratched up white when I bought it but a quick once over with glossy black spray paint and voila! She's cute as can be, don't you agree?

Company's coming...

My step dau and our grands age 2 1/2 and 16 months are coming for a little visit tomorrow. She is expecting their 3rd child in about 6 weeks and really beginning to tire, so we've asked her to come spend a few days with us and let us wait on her for awhile. This is our guest room where she and the babies will be. That's an old iron gate I use as a headboard, it looked very plain to me at first so I made the wreath to "soften" it up.

Clean as a whistle!

Clean as a whistle? Wonder where that phrase comes from? Not sure, but that's how clean our bonus room is this afternoon! DH and I have worked so hard on it for hours, now...I'm ready for the workers to come and start turning it into a studio for me! Can you tell I'm excited?

Finally Friday!

It's finally Friday, looking forward to the weekend. My DH has been out of town on business and I'm cleaning out the bonus room. You know we are making plans to finish out the bonus room over the garage into a studio for me! I made separate piles like they do on "Clean House". I had one to "save", "throw away", and "give away". Man, where does all that junk come from? We moved in this house 3 years ago and some of it has been sitting in the attic since the move.I should be asahmed of myself! I'm not going to work all weekend because we have plans to go to a dinner theatre with friends tomorrow night. I love live performances, don't you? Well, I still have lots to do, better run!

V Day!

Hope you had a wonderful Valentines! I did and now, I've set the table for dinner, just the two of us. He's cooking dinner,so I set a colorful table in the dining room. I love to mix and match china, glassware, etc. This yellow, red and blue table looks so festive to me. It costs nothing and adds so much to dinner.

Spring?

Is it Spring yet? Obviously not, but I'm ready when it gets here! Isn't this a cute sign? Someone painted the word "Spring" on this piece of tin roofing and put a wire thru the top so it can be hung. I loved the idea so I had to buy one, it's probably 12 inches by 28-30inches. The hankies shown are some I have been gathering for a week or so. I have a customer needing 75 hankies by next week for a ladies prayer retreat so I've been buying up on Ebay, antique malls etc. This pile I gathered this weekend as well as a couple of other treasures.

Find of the Day!

We've been gone this weekend, we met up with old friends at the www.redrockerinn.com as our Valentine weekend . My husb and I and the other couple consider this our Valentines to each other. We had a great time! The four of us have been friends for a number of years and the Red Rocker is about 1/2 between our house and theirs so.... we get to visit, eat good and SHOP! I highly recommend this bed and breakfast if you are ever in the Asheville, North Carolina area. This is our 3rd time to stay there. Well, the girls shop and the guys hang out, talk etc. Anyway, back to the "find of the day", as many of you know, I have a booth space with "All Things Tea" so I am always on the search for vintage/orphaned teacups, teapots, tea sets etc. to resell. Found this little set while shopping this weekend, entire set for a mere $6!!Can you believe it! I can't wait to put it at the store. Found some other goodies too, I will try and post a pic of those tomorrow.

Baby, it's cold outside!!

I'm sure temperatures in the teens isn't very cold to some folks this time of year but in the South that's pretty cold! Those are cold days even if those are the "lows" for the day! This is the wreath on the front door right now and it fits in perfectly with the "icey" mornings we've been having. The problem we have right now is, we had some warm days in January and my jonquils near the front door are up, not blooming yet, but definitely up 5-6inches already. Hope the tops don't get "frostbite", because I love having the color blooming next to the walk. I guess we'll see over the next couple of weeks.

Refurbished Treasures

I thought it turned out so cute! The cart already had some great crackling on it so the coat of white paint really brought that out. You hardly even noticed the scalloped edge before and now it looks so sweet. Make sure you keep an eye out for treasures anywhere you go, just a coat of paint can work wonders! Of course, I had to throw in some hand painted wine glasses. I love to paint glassware, I am no artist but I can paint simple things on glasses and people pay for them! Amazing to me ! I thought these would be cute for Valentines , just big red polka dots. But I have some red polka dot ones I use at home year round, they look great with my everyday dishes and are such fun! Easy to make also. Email me, if you want super simple directions to paint some glassware for yourself! I think I use my polka dot glasses more for dessert( parfaits and such) than wine, what's wrong with me? lol

Treasures!

Treasures... this is what I call the items I rescue from flea markets, road sides ,etc .to refurbish and sell in my booth space. My husband calls it junk. Need I say more? lol

Snowy morn in GA

It's a snowy morning here in GA. We don't get alot of snow where we live so a simple dusting like this looks wonderful to us! I understand it won't last long though as we are predicted to have rain by this afternoon but it is so pretty . I'm using this time to finish some projects for the shop. I made a dozen lavender filled sachets, painted an old tea cart white( it is looking very cute) and painted some red polka dot wine glasses. Trying to put together another Valentine display as I understand everything in the first one has already sold! Yeah! That's always good to hear!
